Add a blacklist of network OpenVPN should not try to connect the VPN. #103

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I use OpenVPN to keep my phone connected to my home network while connected to
my work WiFi or my friend's Wifi or using my mobile network.
ics-openvpn works quite reliably.

The problems is when I arrive home: the phone connects to one my home Wifi
networks (I have two) and ics-openvpn tries to connect to the VPN but it does
not succeed (but, due to the way things are configured it can't connect, so
this is ok). The problem is that it keeps trying.

I think the solution should be having a blacklist so when connected to my wifi
it does not try to connect the VPN.

Thanks
A.

That would be a great feature. So I could autostart the app

and keep it running all the time.

An option to use VPN only for certain (or all unencrypted) wireless networks
would be great.

an option to connect only when connected to a special VPN would be awesome.
or as workaround: implement a "stop VPN" widget. With this widget u could use a
app like llama, which can trigger apps/widgets when a defined condition becomes
true. I already connect to vpns when log ging in special wlans. Only Quittung
dos not work until now, because there is no such "quit mechanism" which could
be used as action.

Sry for the typos. German T9 spell checking sucks. But i hope the sense was
clear.

I finally managed to get an openvpn server setup and this app working. I would
love to have this feature. I was using SSH tunnel to have a secure connection
to my home network but that app quit working a while back. I loved the feature
that let you bind the ssh tunnel to certain access points. When I got to work
it would connect and when I got home it would not connect. All automatic.

A simple blacklist would be a great feature.

I am also having the problem that VPN is trying to establish a connection when
connected to my home network, that is basically on the other side of the
established connection, so I would also request the feature of maintaining a
list of SSID-s, that do not require the VPN connection to be established.
Cheers, J.

So, is this possible? I noticed the age of this request and no comment from
the developer. I added my vote for this feature.

Yeah. But lazyness, complexity of the feature and its corner cases and lack of
interest from me so far have prevented this feature so far.
