First of all I do not object a Tasker integration or support. But my motivation
to spend my spare time on developing a Tasker plugin is very low. I will try to
explain my reasons below
I personally don't use Tasker.
Developing a plugin requires me first to purchase the app and then develop this
plugin which may generate more sales of Tasker. I don't object the idea of
commercial software but I don't like the idea of spending time to improve the
commerical software for free.

Thank you for this information.
From now I can start openvpn by shell but there are two problems.
Could i bypass the about box ? If not it's a problem as openvpn won't start
until alertbox is closed.
How to stop openvpn not in a hugly way ?
I'm not a developper but i try to see in source if there is afhn
instruction, but don't find.
Could you help me, promise you it's the last time i disturb you.
Gilles.

How difficult would it be for you to support intents to start or stop a named
VPN? That would work with various things, and doesn't require any specific
connection to any other apps.
The use case here is to not have OpenVPN running 24/7, especially on the home
connection, or tethering to the phone, etc... But on any other wifi, have it
connected. Tasker can do this easily, all that's needed is intents to do it.
A plugin would be a "nice to have", but would require some amount of
development specific to Tasker. Documented intents would be sufficient for
most Tasker users.
Hope you consider this! Thanks!

Yes I planning on doing this. But when OpenVPN is controllable by other
applications there needs to be some security otherwise Openvpn may suffer the
confused deputy problem.

Matt R from the Tasker forums gave me this great tip, and it works to start the
VPN, I'd still like a way to exit the VPN from Tasker, I'll probably look into
that more today.

Plugin for Tasker, insert it, hit the Edit button, pick OpenVPN for Android,
select your profile. Works great to launch, although of course does still have
the message box about trusting and connecting, but at least it's all automated
to launch that now.

Using AutoShortcut plugin for Tasker works great. Did you ever find a way to
close the VPN from Tasker or something else? I'm trying to use NFC Task
Launcher with a switch task to start and stop the VPN by scanning a tag.

This is a big one for me. I want to be able to use NFC Task Launcher (and
Tasker if necessary) to have a NFC tag at my desk at work that toggles Wifi &
my workplace's OpenVPN connection, for use with my tablet & phone.

I have written a Tasker plugin that uses the new remote control API: 'OpenVPN
Tasker Plugin' try out the beta version
https://plus.google.com/communities/116428085199828433253.
Note: it requires at least version 0.6.37+ of the OpenVPN for Android app,
which is only released as a beta at this stage -
