Enable the file referencing in Edit command with range to scope over a range #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Use case is that I want to write in a window "foo" Edit commands that
affect another window. I use the format "bar"x. If I want to refer a range
"bar"x,"bar"y I might like to omit the second "bar". An expression
"foo"x,"bar"y is not a well defined range anyway so there is no ambiguity.

To clarify: the proposal is to make "bar"x,y shorthand for "bar"x,"bar"y
Since "foo"x,"bar"y is ill-defined in the Edit language, there shouldn't be a
conflict.
It is unclear whether the current behavior is by design or by omission,
so I am classifying this an Enhancement"

It appears that the X command does pretty much all what is needed. Thus one
might
consider removing the file referencing at the beginning of an address
altogether as a
redundant feature.

The Edit X command already implements this feature.
