Move #loot IRC channel off freenode (or discontinue it) #85

So freenode has had a hostile takeover and I’m working on moving as much of my activity off of freenode as I am able to. #loot is been one of the few channels I sit in that I have FOUNDER for, and the amount of traffic the channel gets is… negligible to say the least.

If we want to keep the IRC channel, I’d suggest moving it to Libera.Chat—or alternatively just discontinuing the channel.

If we do decide to keep an IRC presence, it might be good to look into setting up an IRC–Discord bot/bridge (but that’s a separate issue from this one).

Having bounced off IRC several times, I'm in favour of just discontinuing it. However, if you or anyone else wants to maintain an IRC channel on Libera.Chat, that's fine too.

I feel that the less places we have to check for suggestions/questions/support, the better.

Alright. I’ll update topic and /mode on existing channel to reflect discontinuation. I’ll try and get around to making a PR against this repository to remove the mention of the channel from the site. Is it mentioned anywhere in LOOT itself too? I haven’t played and BethGS games in so long, so I don’t remember. :\

I’ve set up a #loot channel on Libera.Chat as well, but also locking that like I did the freenode one, and redirecting to our other venues.

Doesn't look like there's any mention in LOOT, I was probably just thinking of a link to the main website.

If you do decide to unlock either IRC channel and wish to run a bridge with the project's Discord, let me know, I'd be happy to help out with that

I'm also in favor of discontinuing the IRC Channel, with AFKmods, Discord and Nexus we have plenty of places where people can get in contact with us. @Freso I think by deleting the IRC block within _layouts/page.html we could resolve this issue. Do you have any objections to that?

@Freso I'm not sure why but I have been unable to get in contact with you on multiple occasions now. I will go ahead and remove the mentioning of the IRC channel now, in the hopes that this is in line with your intentions.
