We had a very productive meeting this week and made steady progress in our project planning. Zac and I went over a chapter excerpt that was expressively marked up in XML and discussed ways to improve and clarify tagging the rest of the text. We also set work goals for our early meeting next week and assigned them cards in our project workflow. We went over the command line because I was still feeling very shaky and discussed repo organization so we can stay organized from the get-go in all capacities of this project. Since our project webpage was live by the time we met up, I uploaded an HTML/CSS file to the site so we have a page that is a decorative work in progress now. For next week, we hope to have a schema in the works, a structurally marked up XML doc of The Sign of the Four, and fully flush out our research inquiry.

Sounds like we had pretty similar weeks! My group also spent some time working with the Command Line and reviewing pushing and pulling updates, so its nice to see that we arent the only ones experiencing a learning curve there. Great work on getting a preliminary site up so quickly. Have you considered any of the aesthetic choices you might make for the site yet, or is it too soon to make these sorts of decisions?

We also had a similar meeting, I also feel that my use of the command line is still a bit shaky. It sounds like you had a productive meeting and week. I looked at your replacement for the placeholder site and I think the design scheme that you have implemented thus far is solid. Is your focus more so on occurrences of Orientalism or the representation of deformed bodies?
