Touchegg is not responding to any gestures #157

I have recently tried installing touchegg on a computer for my brother however 
when I try to run touchegg it acts as though it is running just find but it 
does not respond to any gestures, taps, etc. it just sits there. considering 
the fact that in xubuntu I can from synclient set two fingered horizontal 
scrolling on and off, I don't think it is a hardware problem (I cannot even set 
two fingered gestures.) 

The computer appears to have a SynPs/2 Synaptics Touchpad
and to use the synaptic and psmouse drivers
I am using xubuntu 11.10

any help would be appreciated.

Probably your touchpad is not supported by uTouch
