So i compiled the source code

Hi!

In Natty you only need to download and install the deb for your architecture:
http://code.google.com/p/touchegg/wiki/Downloads?tm=2

Do you have problems with the deb installation?

At the installation the configuration goes to /usr/share/touchegg but in the
first run of Touchégg it's copied to your user folder.

Well, How am I supposed to run touchegg?

I used alt+2 and ran the command, but nothing happened.
Then I ran it on the terminal and it showed

Reading config from "/home/sam/.config/touchegg/touchegg.conf"

and stayed there. The default gestures as per the config file aren't working..

Well, I think it IS running, cuz the terminal registered some of the gestures,
however it doesn't execute any of the gestures...

Hi,

Probably your device is not fully supported by uTouch, please, check the FAQ:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/HardwareSupport

Probably you only can use gestures with a maximum number of touches
Greetings!

Ooh, I have a studio 14 Dell, with synaptics touchpad, and the highest gesture
I've tried on it is a 3 finger drag which I used to do during ubuntu 11.10. the
3 finger tap works on 11.04.

I was quite looking forward to implementing this. Seems like a really
exceptional project!

Anyway, in case I DO have the hardware ( from what I mentioned above) let me
know.
Else, thanks for the help. :)

On the above link:

    Synaptics Touchpads

Older models do not have any multitouch support. Some newer models have semi-multitouch capability and provide the number of touches up to 3. Some newer models have full multitouch capability for up to two touches, and provide the number of touches up to 4.

And from the FAQ <http://code.google.com/p/touchegg/wiki/FAQ>

I'm using Unity and I can't use gestures with 3 and 4 fingers

Unity reserves to itself gestures with 3 and 4 gestures making impossible to Touchégg make use of it.

Probably you can use gestures with 3 fingers, but not in Unity, try in KDE or
Gnome

I'm working on ubuntu classic in 11.04 i.e. NOT unity... so I suppose 3-4
finger gestures should not be reserved.

I tried to implement the 3 finger drag in touchegg, but that didn't work
either. :\

If you have any suggestions?

Thanks much Jose.

Ok, in this case run Touchégg ($ touchegg) in the terminal and make gestures
(of course the desired gestures must be in your configuration)
If the gesture is supported by uTouch it will appear in the terminal if not,
it's because your trackpad is not supported.

Why are you using Natty? Can you update to Precise? The uTouch support is more
better in Oneiric/Precise try the live CD

I find natty more flexible and stable than either Oneiric or Precise (Oneiric
comes close though)

Guess my touchpad isn't supported then.
I'll see if I upgrade.
Thanks loads for all the prompt help Jose!! :)
Best of Luck for your project.
