all released versions from 0.9.39 upwards do not work #166

Hi.

All released versions from 0.9.39 upwards do not work. The latest working version in my case is 0.9.39 or any older version.

I do not know why. Nothing happens when clicking on the EXE executable file. Only the cursor icon with an hourglass will appear, for about 2-3 seconds. However, the application will not start.

I tried to pause the antivirus protection (Kaspersky), but it didn't help.

OS used: Windows 10, Enterprise, x64, 20H2

Can you check Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> System to see if there are any events related to this app?

s3n0 commented 3 years ago

Unfortunately, today, the DriverStoreExplorer application already works in version 0.11.72. I don't know how it's possible. I tried it today, and it's working. A few days ago, only some probably insignificant, automatic updates were performed, some features of Windows 10 (it's still version 20H2).

If I look at Events, under the System, I can't characterize anything that would resemble the DriverStoreExplorer application. For the day 19.7.2021 there are many events (all day working on a PC). I don't know which of the LOG-records belongs specifically to the DriverStoreExplorer application. Is there any way to set the correct event search filter for this single application ? I tried the filter as a search for "Rapr.exe", but it behaves really weird. Some adjustable filter items are inactive.

EDIT:

So ... I finally managed to find something, but it's not in the "System" field, but in the "Application" field: "Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application": rapr_app_events.zip

From the event, it looks like the app failed to read the language dlls (some file permission issue). To fix the permission issue, an easy way is just delete the entire app folder and download it again.

Hi.

Thx for reply. Yes, it's a possible reason, but the interesting thing then is that the old applications from the specific version worked fine.

I tested everything all the time from the RAM disk (disk letter "Y:"). I use the following RAM disk:
