I submitted this issue because if I remember, this is set at build time as Debian already does for Firefox.

Thanks for pointing this out. I realised I had missed the mozconfig files from the source repository that set the configure options to disable this and other features. I've added them now, so these features will be correctly disabled.

Thankfully the update check itself (among other remote URLs) were already blackholed, so they would have been ineffective prior to the fixes I've implemented anyway.

Yes, the links didnt work but the options were confusing and seemed like a half-done work.
