Overhauling buildings and holding types to better match history.

LT-Rascek commented 2 years ago

Current status map. Violet is completed holding/development review, yellow requires an additional review. Most of Europe/West Russia is already tribal and doesn't require any additional review, but the new, history-less CK3 regions (e.g., Nigeria, Mongolia) do require review.

Spain will be reviewed after #50 is merged to avoid work duplication.

Arascid history was reviewed and the Armenian and Iberian branches were made Houses of the Greater Arascid Dynasty.

Also for new characters, labeling in CK3 is much more flexible and thus, with descriptive (and somewhat long names) we can completely avoid the risk of character id collision! Review history/characters/_lt_rascek_new_chars.txt for examples.

current_status Violet - Buildings/holdings/culture/religion history is complete Red - Missing some part of history Yellow - New history needs fixing/review Dark Blue - @loup99 should double check county culture/religion history to see if he agrees (476 point) Light Blue - Some additional tweaks from what was in WTWSMS history after the 476 bookmark* Grey - Current history/holdings should be reviewed White: Should be fine with just a spot check (mostly tribals from WtWSMS).

And the Pagan Kalash/Nuristani cultures await the new unreformed Hindu faith to replace Nuristani paganism. Similar thoughts for the Pagan Illyrian provinces.

As a reminder the goal of this branch is to get the map history/holdings ready for adding the minimal features required for pre-alpha testing like migrations. That is, just the 476 bookmark holdings/development/religions/cultures.

When I've finished the Red, Yellow, and Grey regions, I'll mark this as ready for merge.

Additional history might be included for some regions (e.g., England, Nubia) from what research I've done, but a full history shouldn't be required for integration.

8efb139 completes the list of empty counties for 476; now every county on the map has history, at least in 476.

I have reviewed all the dark blue areas, and some of the light blue ones. However, I don't think I'm the right person to ask when it comes to the more Eastern parts of the map, to the north and east of Persia.

Well, what's there is my best-guess (so far) based on the sources I listed in the history files. If other's can find better sources I'm open to revising it.

Marking ready for review given overall branch length and scope, although additional work needs to be done in India and Dacia.

I have already reviewed several zones that you mentioned were of a specific interests, in others I agree with what you did. But I can give a second look.

I was more just noting that I haven't completed the whole map yet and there's nearly 200 commits. I have no problem pushing forward some more on this branch, but long branches have been an issue in the past, so I thought it best to pause and see what you wanted.

You did the right thing by limiting the pull request, but at this point you can finish wrapping up the remaining areas whenever you have time so that the review can be on the complete map (including India and Dacia) since that is what you wanted to aim for. Although of course, the main part of the review does not concern "buildings history", so that title might be a bit misleading.

LT-Rascek commented 2 years ago

Flipped this back to a draft; I'll finish India/Dacia and then reopen for merge. Also changed the title; you're right, the name is misleading. I think we should revisit buildings after we get the playtesting mostly down, to properly balance the strengths of various powers. I only really put buildings for the most important holdings so far.

Ready for review. Current Status (for simplicity/completeness) current_status

Violet - Buildings/holdings/culture/religion history is complete Red - Missing some part of history Yellow - New history needs fixing/review Dark Blue - Should double check county culture/religion history to see if you agree (476 point) Light Blue - Some additional tweaks from what was in WTWSMS history after the 476 bookmark* Grey - Current history/holdings should be reviewed White - Should be fine with just a spot check (mostly tribals from WtWSMS). Light Grey - Future changes (Primarily Arochi Tribe, being oversized and in need of review).
