Normally the plugin will work on a given website. I was trying to get an image here:

https://www.greatchicagofire.org/view-item/165/

And no matter what I did, I could not get the plugin to work. I cannot get images at all from this site in fact. Any help appreciated.

Hello, This zoomable image format is not supported, but it's easy to download with dezoomify. See : https://github.com/lovasoa/dezoomify/issues/382

The template url to use in dezoomify for your example :
