I have trouble connecting at on 3G location. I've only tried 2. I use wifi at
home
(that's in an Edge area) and connect with an IP from my local network. No
problems.
At my weekend job, I was able to connect through my WAN IP and a virtual server
(port
forwarding) on my router. Today at my weekday job, using the same WAN IP
configuration, I am not.
Conditions: WE JOB WD JOB
Wifi avail.? No No
Network: 3G 3G
altitude basement 10th floor
office type pvt museum DOL office
Internet via 3G 3G
local ntwk none not connected
VNC connected YES No :-(
Incidentally, VNC does not work on my wd job's desktop computer (on the DOL
network)
either. It's restricted. But how could they restrict the 3G network? It's
not run
by the DOL. I can't figure out why I can't connect today, but I could connect
yesterday, less than 5 miles from here in the same 3G area.

Update: changed my port forwarding to point to a Linux box instead of my XP
laptop
and I am connected.
Hmmmmm... So it's something on the host? But what changed from yesterday to
today?
I checked the configuration and password, it's all correct. Grrr...

I agree that we should try to make Edge connections work as best we can.
Perhaps we need to add an option to limit the amount of data requested at the
first
connection.

Well comments 1 & 2 seem unrelated. I have had on my todo list to test other
vnc
server builds and i have been wanting to figure out what was done to enable
palmvnc
to connect so fast even when on gprs only....really it connected and
established FAST!
been so swamped lately haven't made it there yet. But i think i do have the
palm
source somewhere...just wanting to see the techniques used.

Not really looking for updates on this issue but looking for a general area to
see
what has been discussed overall on this project and its overall status.
Just asking since it seems so quiet lately on the development front
