I recently discovered low tech magazine, which I think is fascinating and it's a really cool project.
I do agree with some online comments that I've read, that the yellow overlay showing the battery level of the solar panel is somewhat distracting and can make content a little harder to read.
A user on Hacker News created a mockup that they posted to imgur in 2018.
I pasted the image below in case the link above breaks at some point.
I would be happy to work on/submit a PR for this in case you would want to consider the change.
And I'd be happy to help come up with alternative design ideas as well.
