Explore USPTO "Economics" Data #13

The USPTO seems to have recently put a few new data sets online:

I found the news here: http://www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/electronic-bulk-data-products because it says: New Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS) (Released 10/1/15)

and if you click here: https://data.uspto.gov/uspto.html

you get to a part on the bottom Patent Assignment Economics Data for Academia and Researchers: created/maintained by the USPTO Chief Economist, which leads here: https://data.uspto.gov/data2/patent/assignment/economics/2014/

For which I googelt the following: http://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USPTO_Patents_Assignment_Dataset_WP.pdf

And apparently there exists an USPTO Economist: http://www.uspto.gov/economics

whose data site looks interesting: http://www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/electronic-data-products/data

This part is particulary interesting, they even discuss patent classification: http://www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/electronic-data-products/historical-patent-data-files

for which this is the documentation http://www.uspto.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USPTO_economic_WP_2015-01_v2.pdf

So I explored their Historical Patent Data Files and here is my summary:

Overall, I think this is a good check to see if we extract the right numbers. But I haven't seen any information that we might need.

It's interesting data, but I think it should serve mainly as a check and as comparison for what we retrieve from the patent text files. I'll close this issue.
