Odd Game freeze #180

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Going into battle and playing the game 
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It shouldnt get stuck and alternate between 2 frames

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest, Windows XP

Please provide any additional information below.
The game freezes and alternates between 2 frames, normal battle sounds are 
heard, it goes back to normal for a few seconds if you tab out and then back in 
but then resumes behaviour. only occurs in battle
