pushing RAIL v1 release in w/b 13/MAY
organising amongst RAIL tean a tech paper for this release
finalising a RAIL development principles document that explains code reviews etc
organising RAIL workshop at UCL, submitted funding support to LSST:UK and waiting for reply. Already have support from DESC.

working on implementing RAIL V1 into DESC Python env on NERSC
closing some issues in RAIL
discussing project implementing projection into RAIL, will discuss with Firecrown
need to plan for July workshop at UCL

discussing with other DESC pipeline leads about connecting RAIL to these
planning for the UCL workshop
have prelim topics but requires some more organisation
need clarification on obtaining funding on LSST:UK, will contact George or Terry if necessary
giving a talk on RAIL status at DESC collab meeting in July

workshop from 15-17 JUL at UCL
many RAIL participants online and in person
discussed two packages to be implemented in RAIL
for the first, yaw, the basic structure was implemented at workshop and is now pending review from RAIL team
if approved it will be officially included in RAIL
also discussed the sompz package used by DESI3 to calculate redshifts
want to stabilise and parallelise this package before it becomes an official part of RAIL
at the workshop discussed parallelisation options and other requirements
also discussed other RAIL issues eg bugs, docs, etc and building pipeline for mass production
also had various breakout sessions on personal priorities eg Jaime and Stölzner

plan to have a further team catch-up on the actions arising at the RAIL mtg
Ellen also presented RAIL status in a plenary at the DESC Collab mtg in Zurich earlier in July

18/SEP/24 Two main focii

RAIL paper - technical software paper will include RAIL v1+
- coordinating the joint effort with the other co-lead
- organising the write-up of the draft
developing input checks for some RAIL stages in order to have a SAFE check when package is run to confirm if inputs are correct.
- will be added as PR once unit tests passed

- getting contributors to provide content
- then will go through the draft and iterate to publishable state
input checks PR (https://github.com/LSSTDESC/rail_base/pull/164) has been approved but not yet merged since waiting for CECI release
