arose from #58
investigating why patch boundaries are seen on stitching even with default pipeline
these were uncovered when setting up Las Vegas 360 sphere.

Robert said results indicated a bug but Aaron found no bug.
Instead it appears the current sky subtraction is not working as DM are expecting
