really ? what

can be disabled without harm? admin/islandora/solution_pack_config/scholar

Well this explains what COinS is http://ocoins.info/

A few references seem to suggest that there is not a down side to not using it, and that disabling clears up one issue or another, for example

Configure at admin/islandora/solution_pack_config/scholar. You will see a page like this, with options to enable RoMEO, Google Scholar Search, and to override the default COinS display. You need to override the default COinS display if you want to use theIslandora Solr Metadata Module to author your metadata display.

although this article seems to refer to it as a feature:

The first version of IslandScholar.ca was created shortly after and included the seeding of the repository with faculty citations harvested from RefWorks, tying-in authentication with UPEI’s LDAP service, the ability for faculty to add their own citations and attach the related publication, and integration with Sherpa/Romeo [2], OpenURL and COinS [3].

I'm leaning toward disabling it, at least for now while we work on the metadata transforms

Agree to disabling it for now. We can do the fancy stuff later. Thanks Mike!
