NXDOMAIN hijacking note #82

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run namebench with a comcast.net nameserver entry
2. Observe results, e.g. 68.87.71.226

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Notes field should indicate NXDOMAIN Hijacking. There is no note.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.5 / Mac OS X 10.6

Please provide any additional information below.
Comcast allows customers to turn off the hijacking (if they remember an arcane
password).

namebench will only indicate NXDOMAIN hijacking if the nameserver is indeed
doing so
for you at the moment. If you have turned it off, there isn't anything I can do
to detect
it.
