Is there another way to approach this that has less implicit lawyering? This is the issue of not practicing law without a license.

Need to create preference setting to prevent lawyering in the form of our choosing of a 3 day time period.

Nicole suggests "X hours elapsed."

I wonder about adding "(Y hours left to alarm)."

Maybe a visual indicator of the fraction? A progress bar?

just curious what the difference is between listing the hours left and the days left....

It carries less legal advice. There's a need for our users to pick their policy. Sometimes it's 10 minutes before the alarm goes off, sometime's it's a day, sometimes 3 days. Different countries might have different standards. Standards might be different for paper/email disputes vs ones using a form.

About a progress bar, I'm visualizing three marks: start date / time, current date/time, time date/time when alarm will go off.
