Dear @lucidrains, this is really awesome what you have done so far !

In your to do list is just one point left, and you say that you want to talk to a meteorologist. So from my point of view you can use the orography/topology from the HRRR model as a basis. Alternativly you can use a digital elevation model you can get for free on the internet. I think a resolution of 1 km is enough so far.
