Instead, I get a message saying " You must have Windows 2000 or newer"... But 
I'm 
using Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium... :-S Is there a way to get around 
this? So 
it can install successfully?

Try building yourself, instead of using the pre-built binaries?

Right click on the installer, go to Properties and turn on compatibility mode. 
It
worked for me.

Agreed with Comment 4 (wojciech).
Downloaded the installer onto my machine (Dell XPS, Windows 7 x64)
I right clicked on the installer once I downloaded it, selected properties, 
clicked on "Compatability" tab, and checked "Run this program in compatability 
mode for:" ... and left the defaulted dropdown as "previous versions of 
Windows".
Worked fine for me.
