try this: open project, create empty c++ class, open in visual studio and build all, close project, put the plugin in the plugins directory, open project again (it will ask to re-build, click yes)

Try with a new project -> create empty c++ class --> open in visual studio and build all --> close the project --> put the plugin ("UE4Cardboard-master" folder) in the plugins directory --> open project again, can you try it?
