What was concluded was:
1) The quality of the cut on the surface of the fiber greatly effects the resolution, power, and noise thresholds of the OCT.
2) Polishing does help but only to remove dust or biofouling on the surface of the fibers exposing the actual tip.
3) The amounts of old fiber tip that are needed to cut to get a cleaner image are in the ranges of 0.5-2 millimeters
