Tether Eris with Windows 7 #16

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect to PC
2. Start Tether program
3. Verify no new Network connections
4. I do see the USB Mass Storage Device

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to see a new network LAN device showup, but I do not see
anything show up in the device manager.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest on the site, 1.2

Please provide any additional information below.
I am running Senseable 3.1, and have Wireless tether installed already.
Added Wired to be able to connect without needed to eat up my laptop
battery with wifi also. I do see the HTC android Phone USB device, as well
as a USB Mass Storage, although no drive letter is assigned since it is in
charge mode.

I too have this exact same issue.

PC: Windows 7 x64
Android ROM: Eris Official 2.1 Rooted 1.0

I am running Wired Tether v1.2

The wireless tether works flawlessly but the wired tether does not show up when
I
plug in the device.

Also, quick update, same issue with EvilEris 2.0.1 ROM.

According to people on xda forums who have the same setup as I do it works fine
for
them. Not sure what settings are different between the different phones/OSes.

I have the same problem with wired tether. Using 1.2, Windows 7 64-bit. IC3 2.7
ROM.
Never had any problems with wireless tether. Connect device, no new connection
shows
up on computer. Upon trying to install as new network connection, the computer
says
the device returned an error, but gives no error number.

Disable debugging and usb mass storage and pc will find RNDIS connection.

/sys/devices/platform/msm_hsusb/usb_function_switch
usb_mass_storage:disable
adb:disable
diag:disable
serial:disable
ether:enable
modem:disable
nmea:disable

causing this?

The Eris is having the same issues as the EVO please implement the fix that
seems to have been found in issue #21.

A workaround can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712706 for now.

I found if you download the HTC sync software, it installs all the necessary files needed to work, on windows 7 x64 with my stock 2.1 rooted eris
