What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. HTV Evo 4G, Froyo, Rooted
2. Wired Tether App 1.4 with fix (see issue 24)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Stops working after at various intervals, between 5 min and several hours.
Phone display always turns on when app stops communicating with connected
computer. Phone then loses USB connection to computer. Network connection on
computer then stops responding, meaning Windows XP won't shut/down reboot which
I have to do to get app back to working. Sometimes app freezes whole phone so I
have to reboot

I worked with one of the developers to get this sort of working, see issue 24.
However I am now so frustrated off this app that I removed it from my phone,
and won't look into this again until somebody have time to do some serious
troubleshooting/work perhaps even rewriting the whole thing as on a HTC Evo 4G,
Froyo 2.2, at least on my rooted phone is 100% unreliable!
What I mean is that it works fine anywhere from 5 minutes to several hours,
sometimes even over night attached to my HTPC. But mostly on both my HTPC and
laptop, both running Windows XP sp3, it only works for about 30-60 minutes,
then I see network traffic has halted to nothing, my phone display usually
turns on by itself and stays on by the way, USB debugging on phone is still
listed, however USB connectivity (Charge only) is gone and can't be
restarted/changed, Local Area Connection on computer has stopped responding,
and many times USB ports on computer has also stopped working, meaning if I
insert a memory stick/USB flash drive whatever you call it, it won't work. This
whole mess of causes current download(s) to be aborted, and if it can't be
resumed at a later point (mostly), I of course have to start all over, after I
have rebooted computer, and computer won't shut down/reboot gracefully, as the
Local Area Connection has stopped responding, so I have to press reset button
or hold down power button until it shuts down. Note that sometimes, when I am
lucky I guess, I can don't lose USB Charge only on phone, and can just unplug
USB cab;e and restart app and it will work for another 5 min to several hours,
but mostly minutes not hours.
I have experienced the above EVERY DAY since I worked with one of the
developers, who kindly took time to troubleshoot with me back in the middle of
August, so for almost two months, every day I have had to reboot the computer I
used it on, every 30-60 minutes. I have now come to the point where I have
removed this app from my phone, and will instead use the android wireless
tether which is 100% reliable, although a bit slower.
I hope the developers will eventually gets this serious issue fixed, but for
now it is simply to much of a hassle to deal with.
