Generating a menu by category in order to integrate it into site menu #23

I'd like to integrate the generated menu into a website's menu in order to create the type of navigation + filtering that is used on many retail sites (i.e. shopstyle.com).

How can I call a specific category instead of the entire menu so that I can incorporate it in the the proper place and with the necessary formatting?
