Jumps to full volume when using volume control #66

When I reconnect a device (my phone) and change the volume, the Pi will first jump to full volume before working as intended giving a loud surprise. How can I fix it such that the volume controls pick up from the current volume level?

This was actually an issue with my OnePlus 3T.

Troubleshooting steps: Disable Absolute Volume

  1. Settings -> About phone -> Build number -> Tap 5 times to enable Developer options
  2. Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Disable absolute volume
