Please, check state of the "friendly fire" gameplay option at options screen.
The "friendly fire" option defines whether or not will take Violet damage from
explosions (all explosions includes grenades and nuclear bombs).

Ok, then it is my fault, you're right. But hey, when friendly fire is on, this
powerup is useless and dangerous. May be a short tooltip can be added to the
game, explaining what does friendly fire mean?

I don't think it's needed. I also had a surprise with this, but I think it's
normal, and kind of makes the game harder for those who think the other way is
too easy. I think it would be enough to have Friendly Fire disabled by default
(which may be the case already, I'm not sure).

Friendly fire should be disabled by default.
Tooltips is a good idea.
I love surprises like this one, don't touch a switch if you don't know it. ;)
