Check speed of centerMapOnItems #55

I'm pretty sure that the way I'm calculating centerMapOnItems slows the load 
down considerably for large datasets - worth looking into. A simple fix might 
be to manually check against n/s/e/w to see whether the map bounds needed to 
expand.

This will almost certainly be irrelevant once the library moves to 2.0
