I think https://www.discourse.org/ would be a better platform than Slack. It's used by many great communities in DL such as
https://discuss.pytorch.org/ https://forums.pytorchlightning.ai/ https://discourse.julialang.org/ https://forums.fast.ai/
etc. Otherwise, a very low-effort alternative is https://docs.github.com/en/discussions. Many repositories are using GitHub Discussions to offer a proper forum for Q&A, rather than abusing the GitHub issues.
Any updates about this? I would love to start contributing to this amazing library!
My current decision is
Can you add me to the slack channel, please?

Send me an email, or write down your email here, and then I will send you the slack invitation.

Currently, "Github Issues" is the only platform for Q&A and discussion. I consider if it is necessary to have a Slack channel.
Slack channel is definitely a more convenient platform for interactive communication, but unfortunately, I don't have enough time to read and reply Slack messages quickly. I reply to all the questions in Github issues, but as you can see usually with a few days delay. Hence, if only I will answer the question in Slack, then there is no difference between Slack and Github Issues. However, if many users would like to join the discussion, then Slack seems a good way to try.
Let us have a vote here on if we should use Slack. If you would love to use Slack and join the discussion with other users, please leave a comment here. I will create a Slack channel if enough people would like to.
Also, welcome any other suggestions on how we can help each other!
