Weird PRSPInstall deleting procedure: Why does the special 2nd reboot exist? #289

Your model / PRS+ version?
PRS 650 / Nightly (R.828)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
0. (Info from this web page: http://erhartc.bplaced.net/ereader/index.php)
[...]The 'PRSPInstaller'-folder will automatically be deleted on a second
restart of your reader.[...]

1. Checked. It does exactly this. But because of this procedure I'm getting
this small, but annoying, issue:

2.1. I install my Nightly version (I copy PRSPInstaller in the device).
2.2. I fully restart the device so the new PRS+ build is installed.
2.3. PRSPInstaller folder is still in the eReader.
2.4. I just don't usually turn on/off the device (because it is slower). I
always use stand-by.
2.5. So three days later: A new PRS+ build!!!
2.6. I copy it to the eReader, deleting the previous version of PRSPInstaller
folder. Remember I haven't restarted TWICE, so this folder is still present.
2.7. I restart >>> This is the second reboot so PRSPInstaller is just deleted.
PRS+ build is not updated.
2.8. I smack my forehead while saying to myself: "Stupid, you had to restart
TWICE!!! before attempting another installation". And then I repeat the
installation process again...

3. So is there a good reason in order to keep PRSPInstaller till the second
reboot? Why is it not deleted just after installation in the first one?

4. (OK, I know it's a silly issue. But it is just a bit annoying).

To install a new version while there are still install files present, first
remove not only the PRSPInstaller folder, but also the file 'runonce.sh'. Then
copy the new installer, and the new version will be installed at the next
reboot.

Not going to spend time on this, sorry ;)
