[2.1] single tap page turn with PDF in landscape wrongly #330

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
PRS 650 / PRS+ 2.0.18

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. viewing PDF in landscape mode
2. when do a single tap to change page (it does not matter whether is set up
"tap right to next and left to previous" or "tap anywhere in the page") often
does not goes to the next page but it goes to one or two previous ones. For
example: I am on the bottom of page 16, I tap on the right part of the screen
to go to the top to page 17 but it goes to the top of page 16 or even to the
bottom (or to the top) of page 15, requiring actually many "tap" to get to the
wanted page.

Thanks for reporting, hcezar. If you don't mind running the v2.1 alpha from the
download page (it's very stable, despite its name), please install that and see
if the problem still occurs. The single tap code was largely rewritten for
v2.1, so it's rather difficult to go bug hunting in the old code.

I just did a quick test, but I could not reproduce the problem. So a few more
questions:
- Did you try with different PDF's? Could you perhaps supply one for testing?
- Does the problem also occur when using the buttons for paging?
- I assume you're aware that the tap areas rotate along with the orientation?
So top-left/top-right/bottom-left/bottom-right are always with respect to the
status bar at the bottom.

PS: no need to create a new issue, we can keep using this one.

Issue 332 has been merged into this issue.

1) yes, with almost 40-50 PDFs, but they are all of the same series (comics),
thus similar.
2) no, it does not occurs either with the page buttons or with the built-in
swipe gestures.
3) definitely I do.

Please find here copy of the latest PDF that reproduced the problem:
http://depositfiles.com/files/05gv1834l

I am experiencing this problem since a couple of months, I did delay to
publishing it before because I have been not able to reproduce it
intentionally. It occurs randomly during the reading, and usually not at the
beginning of the document (more often after the 20-25% onwards).

Thanks for providing the PDF. Unfortunately, I still can't seem to reproduce
the problem. I've tapped my way through most of the pdf (sometimes a few pages
back), but every page turn has been correct.

Last shot: is there any particular page view (cropping etc) you have enabled?
Otherwise, I'm not sure if there's anything left for me to try...

Hi, unfortunately as I told before I haven't been able to reproduce
intentionally the event. While I was reading the book it happened a couple
of times, when I later tried to re-read the same book and it went through
all the pages without any mistake at all.

The cropping settings are always to "Original". The only change I often set
is the Adjust View to "Saturated", but the problem did occurs also with it
set to "Original".

Is there any debug mode I can activate in order to help you to address the
issue cause?

There's no debug mode, I'm afraid. I'll close this issue for now, but let me
know if you find a way to reproduce the problem, as then it can be reopened of
course.

if it may helps: I noticed that the issue it never occurs when tapping away
from the edge. When instead I hold the reader with the right hand only, using
the right hand thumb to change turn the page tapping with a very small
movement, and touching very close to the edge of the frame or just on the edge,
the problem sometimes randomly occurs.
