just a thought, no idea if you'd be into it or how much effort it'd take, but how about gradually draining the colour from the player's vision as light levels lower? humans largely use monochrome vision in low-light levels, so having everything very dark but still colourful looks kinda strange. on the off-chance that you do feel like implementing this, pretty please would you add a config for it? :)
