Graphical mixer not regulate sound via HDMI connection #419

Intel NUC DN2820FYKH

If I use external speakers plugged to nettop then all OK with Lumina graphical sound mixers, I can regulate sound volume. But when I plug headphones to my LG 22MP55 Display 3.5 mm jack (HDMI connection to nettop) and when I select Output HDMI setting in mixer then Lumina graphical mixers can set sound only to 100% and 0% sound volume, but not settings between this variables.

Thanks for the bug report. I have the same NUC at my house. When I'm home next week I'll test the latest FreeBSD ISO and see if this is an issue we've inherited from FreeBSD, or it's something on our end.

This problem is not fixed in TrueOS image from 1st june 2017.

I have the same problem on my Thinkpad Yoga. Sound works great on internal speakers and from 3.5 jack. But I get no sound from the HDMI. It is also Intel chipset based... I believe it's HD4400.

I will try to get some more exact data and some printouts this evening.

zmurf, maybe problem is here: HDMI sound can be played only if Intel video driver was installed (hdmi audio is the part of this intel video driver), but hdmi audio dont play if scfb/vesa video driver is installed (they are not supported hdmi audio) and in hw.snd.default_unit= is set correct HDMI audio output.
