THis issue is likely due to the file system tree being populated in the right pane of the file manager. My system has a couple of NFS shares mounted, each of which contains thousands of directories and TiBs of data.

I don't know if there is a way to exclude QFileSystemModel from scanning NFS shares, as I believe it's simply checking the file system as it exists... whatever is mounted is accessible.
