Remember or Set Default Tab #21

Description

Add either an option to set what tab should be the default when VS opens, or remember the last tab opened.

Steps to recreate

  1. Open Visual Studio and open the new Start Page+.
  2. Select a tab other than the "Start" tab, IE, the "Favorites" tab.
  3. Close and reopen Visual Studio.

Current behavior

When Visual Studio reopens, it always starts in the "Start" tab.

Expected behavior

I would like it to start in another tab such as the "Favorites" tab each time Visual Studio is opened. Either by having option set the default tab, or it just remember the tab I manually opened last.

PS1. I checked the road map and the "Goals for Start Page+" so I don't know if this falls under the "should be customizable" checkbox, but I wanted to point this particular behavior out as an explicit customization I would like to have.

PS2. I already love this new extension. I can't wait until the Favorites tab is functional. The new Start Window is complete garbage, and I used to use an extension in VS 2017 that sounds like it is identical (or really really close) to the plans you have listed on the Favorites tab. Keep up the good work!

HI Bob!

This is definitely something that I've always had in mind, as I knew that there'd be advanced users who wouldn't want to start every VS session on the Start tab. I'm glad that you brought it up though, and that it's now captured in an issue of its own. Until there's more than one tab with functionality though, I have bigger fish to fry as it were.

I'm absolutely looking forward to the Favorites tab myself. I also used to use a start page extension in VS 2017 (Better Start Page), so I miss that functionality very much.

I'm so glad that you're loving Start Page+ already! Thank you for your encouragement. It helps!

For the time being, the tabs have been put on the back burner. As much as I'd love to be able to get stuck into the Favorites tab, I'm not sure if my health will allow it.

I still want to do this though. I'm going to close this for now, but it will definitely stay on my backlog.
