@dgoats I'm on board with making the homepage a little more colorful/less "clean" and I like the colors you're using in the example. I think the whole background effect works for that large intro text, but small text gets unreadable pretty quickly further down the page. I'll give it some thought over the next few days!
Cool! Feel free to run ideas by...

Also, maybe we save the background graphic for the about page, and go with some kind of color fade?
I kind of like this color scheme (attached) or something that faded between a range of colors we decide that are Sunview-y (dinery?)
@dgoats interesting! I'd be down to try and include more color on the homepage too. Maybe it's not the tiled bg but I wonder if the footer could have the image of sparta? Or what if there's a persistent post that's like the history of Bea's neighborhood in Greece?
@dgoats and @kirsten, I think also all of the posts/images are a bit too far apart and could help to "fill" the homepage out a bit more. Which I can help with!
@gregmihalko I totally agree that the posts and images on the homepage are looking a little sparse. I played around with making some tweaks to margins and image sizes, but it didn't make a huge difference. I think part of the problem is that the content itself (image shapes, length of text) is so variable.
If we added a background color or a border to each item included here that would visually fill the space a little more. Couple of very quick applications of that idea:
Not sure if either of those totally work, but maybe you or @dgoats have better ideas along the same lines? Could also help with our color issue...
Hiya!
I like these thoughts and in particular I like #2. We could also do something similar to what we're doing now on the website, blowing up the image as the background and changing opacity? More like using it as a pattern? Colors are nice too. Maybe it just means choosing a color, or maybe we can run a script that chooses the average color from the image... could be blechy brown baby food mush color though I guess ;)
Cheers, Dylan

How's something like this?
Hey @dgoats @gregmihalko any thoughts on the above? Happy to take things in a different direction, make tweaks, whatever.
Hey Kirsten! I guess maybe I like best what we have now -- but maybe with bigger images or somthing?

@dgoats Okay! I pushed some changes to https://the-sunview.netlify.com/. I made the images a bit larger, reduced the vertical spacing a little bit, and reordered the content a little so things line up better. Let me know what you think, thanks!
It's great Kirsten! Is it possible to have twice as many possible entries on the front page? Is that easy/hard?

Super easy! That's one of the things that's editable via the CMS, though it might be a little clunky. I'll add a few more now.
Cool!

After sitting with the homepage for a few days, I'm really missing the colorfulness of the old website a bit and the Sparta background...
Think there's some creative way to incorporate some color and something like the old background (or just have the old background on one of our pages if not the home page?)
Not saying it has to be like this necessarily, but maybe there's a way to make it a little less "clean" than the new home page and with some color?
