Release vs Commit Question #132

Closed PedalheadPHX closed 3 years ago

HI Dan,

Apologies for putting this question as an issue.

Are you now recommending people use the development branch directly over making periodic releases? We utilize your caller but have stayed with v6.3 as the latest formal release but reading some of the current issues it looks like you are suggesting for people to use the current development commit.

I suspect a number of our known issues are resolved but we have been waiting for a release but if you are not planning on making additional releases we will look at the current versions in the development branch.

Hope all is well and thank you for your continued work on this valuable project.

Hi Jonathan,

Normally I would recommend sticking with the releases for production use, but v0.6.3b is some way behind the develop branch now making it difficult to tell whether new issues on v0.6.3b have already been resolved. The develop branch is also pretty stable now - I've been planning to release v0.7.0 for some time now but for various reasons it's taking much longer than expected. The only reason I'd recommend sticking with v0.6.3b until v0.7.0 does finally arrive is if you're relying on the provided forest models since the v0.7.0 versions aren't ready yet and the v0.6.3b versions aren't compatible with the develop branch.
