I have tried checking the status of the serial pins using "rpi-serial-console status" but I receive an error that says "/boot/cmdline.txt is missing". I'm assuming this is because Ubuntu 20.04 has the raspi-config files located in the /boot/firmware/ folder.

I'm afraid this repo is deprecated, sorry (the script was last edited 9 years ago!). I'll edit the README to make that more obvious.
