Hi, I've also got problems opening netCDF-files (which follow CF-conventions). The files opens as raster layers in QGIS without problems (so GDAL can read them). Does MDAL have any additional requirements on the netCDF-files? I can also share an example file if you are interested.

could be fixed by #353. Only one time step read. Maybe there is only one?
