General Beta-test Feedback #110

Open Nelaif opened 5 months ago

Nelaif commented 5 months ago

So I explored a little and I have some feedback:

I died due to a mob, and I had 1 bolt. I lost this 1 bolt, but I got the Boltless Wanderer Achievement which gave me 5k bolts. With this, i immediatly upgraded my generator to 3/6 (maximum with other perks). This is an issue.

The monsters are very strong to. I bought a medic suit with 20 armor. It did near to nothing for protection. The same with kevlar, giving 100 armor. Instead of getting 2 hitted by the mobs, i survive 4 hits. Their animations also a little off, so I can not predict a swing or anticipate when I need to back off while I am in melee combat. After investing +/- 2k in equipment, i managed to kill 2 monsters and died 8 times. I had 50 bolts of loot. The RANGE of the monesters hitting you should be reduced, there is no way possible predicting a hit or not. But I believe this is an advanced issue due to the bad basic codings of AI.

Scavanged items, sometimes you find a little ammo. It would be nice if they were stackable. Because 15% of my locker is now filled with a few bullets. Also I have a huge amount of scrap in my locker. It would be nice if there was an NPC which periodicly wanted to buy these.

The Healthbar is no where to be seen, only when taking damage. Not very usefull.

The Amount of bolts are only available when I go to my character. It would be nice to also see this near the inventory tab.

The Door protector: I just destroyed my door protector with my machete. The door was closed and locked while I am inside my base. I destroyed it, but the door stays locked. At the moment, I am stuck in my base and I cannot open the door in any way.

Consumables boost attributes apparantly. Drinking 10 beers does not give you 10 strength, which is fine. But you can combine other food which gives you other attribute points, which is fine. But the effects dont seem to disappear, even after disconnection. All which I can consider fine. But my only issue is: Why does food heal as much as a health vial?

The monsters their corpses do not stay long time. I bought some firepower to kill alot. But before the coast was clear, the corpses went away. They should stay at least 5 minutes.

Looting: I just tried to loot my own corpse. The zombie hit me and pushed me away. Away from the range where I am supposed to loot. This is not a big issue for me, but might be worth mentioning. I was allready inside the inventory, trying to capture my bolts etc. BUT I'd like to CARRY LOOT SUITCASES OR CORPSES ... This would make raiding NPC much safer and also is better to save your teammates their stuff.

Lootings bolts is something that must be done quickly. All other items can be dragged into the other inventory. Bolts, you must click, drag, type, confirm. This takes 4x longer. This is a horrible experience when hunting monsters. Taking bolts must have a quick options in my opinion. Because these monsters deal damage without warning.

I played around for like 2 hours. So far I got a gun, machete, clothes and around 8k bolts and no perks. I have 3 achievements which gave me around 7k. My bolt generator is lvl 3 which costed around 4k, not sure. So this looks pretty ok.

Thanks a bunch for helping with testing. This feedback helps a lot!

The difficulty is intentional, as this is something I intend a group of players to do, when they're geared up way more, but:

Scavanged items, sometimes you find a little ammo. It would be nice if they were stackable. Because 15% of my locker is now filled with a few bullets. Also I have a huge amount of scrap in my locker. It would be nice if there was an NPC which periodicly wanted to buy these.

I'm not sure if the scrap would be a problem if there were more people playing. So I'll leave the spawn rate as-is for now.

The Healthbar is no where to be seen, only when taking damage. Not very usefull.

There is an option in the menu to always show these "info bars". Enabling that should help.

The Amount of bolts are only available when I go to my character. It would be nice to also see this near the inventory tab.

I hope you escaped eventually 😅 Sorry for trapping you like that.

For lag reasons I want to keep them disappearing this fast, but their corpses should turn into a suitcase with their belongings after they despawn. That way you can pick them up.

I'm not sure about this one. I get the frustration, but I believe this also limits players from coming in, quickly stealing loot (from monsters or players) and running off. Having to work a bit means you'd have to:

I played around for like 2 hours. So far I got a gun, machete, clothes and around 8k bolts and no perks. I have 3 achievements which gave me around 7k. My bolt generator is lvl 3 which costed around 4k, not sure. So this looks pretty ok. Good to hear that the balance is alright!

Thanks again for testing. I'll get working on some fixes today.

I'll post a comment once I've tested and applied the changes to the live server.

  • [ ] Temporary attribute boosts should disappear @Nelaif I cannot reproduce this and attribute boosts shouldn't persist when after disconnecting (it shouldn't be able to). Are you sure they don't disappear? Or do you mean other effects?
  • [x] Food shouldn't heal as much as a health vial

I just checked the server again and the attribute buff wore off (since +/- 7 hours ago). But now I drank some beer again for the strength buff and reconnected to the server, the buff is still active after reconnecting. It wears off apparantly so no big issue. I also used another health vial but this heals as much as food. (I suggest increasing healing by vial)

Ah okay, it seems I was mistaken and it should be possible (checked the code again, seems I misunderstood). My bad, but good that it wears off after a while.

In the case of beer it should wear off after an hour or until the server restarts, whichever comes sooner.

Speaking of restarting: everything that is checked off on the list above is done and now live on the server.

On the topic of health given by food items, I've made it give +1 health for food items to encourage using the health vials instead. Perhaps I'll increase health items later like you said.
