No Audio on Steam Deck - Return to Castle Wolfenstein #1063

Bug description

There is no audio in the intro and in-game. I checked if audio is muted for this specific application but it isn't. The audio works fine when launched with default Proton. The controls and performance are really good but no audio the letdown.

Also in-game settings System -> Sound -> i see no 11khz or 22khz its empty by default. When i manually change it 11khz or 22khz still there is no audio.

Model: Steam Deck OLED

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install RTCW on Steam Deck(OLED?).
  2. Set compatiblity to force "Luxtorpeda".
  3. Launch Game and experience "No audio".

Expected Behavior

In game audio and sound should work without any issues.

Can you see if the latest change helps with this? I updated the default config that comes with the engine for the steam deck.

You'll need to remove ~/.wolf/Main/wolfconfig.cfg or Main/wolfconfig.cfg, depending on if you have LUX_STEAM_CLOUD set

I deleted ~/.wolf/Main/wolfconfig.cfg still issue persists. <gamefolder>/Main/wolfconfig.cfg there was no .cfg file. I also removed autoexec.cfg and checked. Still same issue.

Could you provide the logs from the game? That might point to an error that it's having that could make it easier to diagnose.

Are you using the steam deck speakers, or a headset (from looking at the logs)? If you use the steam deck speakers does it work?

I just tried it from a fresh install from my steam deck and it worked fine, I could hear the gameplay just fine.

I did everything. Uninstalled, removed any traces of the game's from $PATH, disabled Steam Cloud so my PC settings doesn't override and installed again. Still no audio. I use the Deck's speakers only, every other game works even default rtcw launched via Proton audio works except this one.

Which path does luxtorpeda store its game engine downloads? Even after clearning everything inside ~/.config/luxtorpeda it didn't dowload iortcw again?

The game engine downloads are stored in ~/.cache/luxtorpeda, and then the game is installed to the game directory.

On the audio, when you're in-game, you don't hear anything at all, just to make sure I understand what you're experience?

Audio seems to work on headset when connected via 3.5mm analog port but not via speakers.
