Hello. Do you think it wouldn't be more practical for me to change the network card?

The notebook I'm using has the rtw_8723du card. It's not being able to enable secure boot. (I seem to be having I/O problems with the usb ports on my external hdd case.)

Secure boot requires that you sign the modules with 'sudo make sign-install', AND that you enroll the MOK key on the next reboot. If you are signing them, then you failed to enroll the key when you saw the MOK blue screen. Recovering from that is difficult.

I am not sure that the external hard drive problems are USB related. Have you done a forced fsck on that driver?

Is the RTW8723DU internal? I have never seen that format - only an external USB format.

If you have a mini-PCIe slot available and the internal wifi antenna leads, then that Intel card would work. I think that they solved their recent round of problems with the AX200.

  1. I've done several things on this external hard drive usb 3.0, in addition to the "checkdisk /F" I added the parameter "usbcore.autosuspend=-1".

  1. Although my laptop looks like a tablet, it's actually a real space rocket. I have a Debian GNU/Linux on it, it even runs on space stations (Astronauts have no problems with firmware, of course.). 😎

It is unlikely that your motherboard has a PCIe slot, thus that Intel card will do you no good.

I am worried about those disk errors. What file system do you have on /dev/sdc1?

You will need to fix those errors while running Windows. NTFS is only partially supported in Linux.

Yes. I did it. I used WinPE ISO, then at the command line I typed chdsk /F (I used ntfsfix either also). I think the problem is due to the fact that my HD does not support the UASP protocol.

How difficult it is to make a linux run with a very complete configuration. In addition to having to configure Secure boot, Encryption, Apparmor, Firewall, VPN... There are several difficulties with hardware.

Iwfinger, I don't know if you could take that doubt. Do you think this setting below can cause any damage to the connection? My system is transplanted from another notebook I think it was the name of the old network card. It has snuggled random disconnection from the internet, sometimes from the external hds (I saw that this is not uncommon, even in windowns).

Hi, @RENANZG. Thank you for following up on this issue with us, Larry and I are very limited in our ability to help with driver specific issues after it has built successfully or any of the disk errors. The scope of this repository and what we can troubleshoot is limited to build errors when you build and install the driver.

I will try to help you get moving in the right direction, but will be closing this issue with this comment.

From the look of your journalctl output, I see four main things:

  1. Messages like CTRL-EVENT-BEACON-LOSS and CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED from wpa_supplicant imply the connection is unstable or lost.
  2. The "rtw_8723du 1-4:1.2: failed to send h2c command" error indeed suggests an issue with the rtw_8723du driver itself.
  3. The Inconsistent IP pool management (start not found) suggests an issue in the IP address management, possibly related to DHCP.
  4. The mounted usb device you have still has those I/O and syncing errors which needs to be addressed separately.

None of these seem to be related to how you are building the driver. I would try to clear yourself of the disk errors and then go from there.
