Is it possible to only add a start time for events and no end time?

The calendar supports all-day (for which no time input is required) and 
partial-day events (for which a start and an end time are required).  Either of 
these event types can span across multiple days.

I'm unclear as to the purpose of this request, please explain in an example: 
what kind of events do not have a duration.
