cannot open file #71

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

Version 1.0 (just updated this morning)

Once installed, and the plugin is reactivated, our entire site displays the
following single message

"cannot open file"

I will downgrade the plugin and wait for fix instructions.

This has been reported a handful of times, which leads me to believe that
server configuration is playing a role in this issue.

1. Log into your blog via ftp.
2. Create a blank text file named cat_colors.css
3. Add the file to the /plugins/ajax-event-calendar/css/ folder
4. This should immediately resolve the issue

Another user suggested that they were able to resolve this issue by adjusting
their file permissions.

Great! I just did the .css file and uploaded via ftp, it works!!! Thank you!
Just to know, why did it happen?

I can't tell you why it only happens for some and not others, I think it has
something to do with server configuration of file permissions, but no one has
been able to illuminate the specific cause as yet.

I did the same on a server that requires SSH for remote command-line access and
SFTP for uploads, which doesn't allow telnet or plain FTP, so I'll go ahead and
agree that it's something to do with permissions.

Uploading the blank style sheet also solved my problem, though, now categories
colors no longer work (they all show the same default blue color).

Workaround?

I have my own server and we installed the plugin on one site -- and it worked
great -- and on the next site we hit this error. Same server. It's not the
server specifically, then.

Another way if you have ssh/telnet access on linux - one command.

touch
/yourserverpath/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/ajax-event-calendar/css/cat_colors.
css
