3 years ago Sometimes I do have vertical tabs but I damned if I know how they got there.
The icon with the eyeballs to the right of the address bar serves as a toggle. If this is not working then some other extension might be interfering. Also note that tabs which were open before installing the extension will need to be reloaded. (This generally applies to any extension which modifies the contents of a loaded tab.)

A list of features with no indication of how to access them is pretty useless.

I am baffled by your description of this issue and have no problems here. If refreshing tabs or restarting the browser does not help, can you try installing this extension in the Brave browser (a privacy-focused fork of Chrome) just to see if the issue persists. https://brave.com/
I cannot get this extension to work on a consistent basis. Sometimes I do have vertical tabs but I damned if I know how they got there. CTRL-E opens up Google search, not vertical tabs. I can't find a way to access settings, if there are any, and I can't find any USEFUL documentation. A list of features with no indication of how to access them is pretty useless. This whole effort has caused me to waste hours this evening that I did not have to waste, and all I am left with for my effort is a high level of frustration and tabs that I can't see because I can't find a working app to help.
I was a Software/Firmware (embedded) Engineer for almost thirty years so I am not some lame inept user who can't program their way out a paper bag. However, I have been unable to use this extension in a reasonable fashion. Great idea, poor execution.
