Is this still an issue?
This is still an issue - the complete upload is broken, so i commented it out two years ago. It might be an idea to drop the upload part completely and use the newly implemented upload from lximage-qt instead (aka drop the old and move the new implementation to screengrab)
Hmm, second thought - i'm not really a fan of upload implementations in cpp - but i guess that introducing a python-qt module for that would be overkill
Although I love python theoretically, I hate modules/apps written in it practically ;) They're always broken with python updates. On the other hand, c++ codes are damn stable.
I never looked into screengrab's uploader code but will do so later.
btw - found the reason for my hacks in the upload part in the changelog:
@tsujan - i fully understand your reasons not to like python - eventually my mileage varies a bit. I maintain pyfll (the siduction iso build system) for years now - as of now there are no big changes and fucked up things (python2 -> python3 will be a different beast), it ist stable. Same for calamares, the python parts are a big help - one can change or implement things on the fly in a live system. But unfortunally you are rigth, cpp is more stable.
@agaida I like python a lot -- that wasn't a joke; a little coding in python was fun -- but had a very bad experience with py apps, especially those based on python-qt. Anyhow, it was several years ago.
ok, an successor bug is filed - we should not spend any time in this ancient upload module - we should remove it asap :sunglasses:
the anwer is a complete website
