The code of 2.8.0 is the same as before but uses Qt6 and KF6. So, what you see can't be caused by ScreeGrab. Its cause may be in Qt6, KF6, or the WM you use (awesome?).
Yes, I use awesome wm. I get what you say, it's an upstream issue, however it makes the tool itself unusable for now. It might be that the flags for the floating windows are different than before, in which case it would be interesting in terms of how screengrab instantiate the window.

These are all changes from the previous release: https://github.com/lxqt/screengrab/commit/9b4a3fdd2b6bf64fe6ede7120a3b53acc8ac9d41. Nothing has changed regarding flags — actually, no functionality has changed.
The report is kept open for more info. For example: Does this happen in other tiling WMs too? Is the version of awesome you use the same as what it was before upgrading ScreenGrab? etc.
yes its the same version. I will check other wm in the next few weeks.
Expected Behavior
when starting screengrab my windows don't move position. (Example recorded with different tool)
Current Behavior
The whole Screen is moved to the left. Every window and even the taskbar is pushed out to display the usage note. The screenshot below is the whole monitor. The browser window is moved out of sight, so screenshots can't record some information.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)
Context
with version <2.7.0 I was able to do screenshots regularly, so it looks like a new bug to me.
