When using SyntaxHighlighter on Wordpress, IE doesn't display properly #167

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install the wordpress plugin
2. Open the page in IE8 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect to see the syntax highlighter as usual, but instead it doesn't 
work, and IE gives the error message:
